CPPE on... returning to pharmacy practice

With nearly 3,000 pharmacy technicians reportedly rejoining the register in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, CPPE has launched a new e-course to bring them up to speed

CPPE is delighted to announce the launch of its brand new e-course, Guide to returning to pharmacy practice.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, CPPE has developed the module to help pharmacy professionals returning to pharmacy practice after a gap in professional service, including those returning to the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) temporary register.

The GPhC has contacted pharmacy professionals who have been removed voluntarily, or due to non-renewal, from the GPhC register, and those who are fit and suitably experienced will be added to the GPhC temporary register to support the healthcare system during the pandemic.

This e-course will support pharmacy professionals to identify key topic areas that they need to revisit to refresh their knowledge for practice. This personalised approach to learning means that learners will complete a self-assessment framework before accessing the e-course to determine their own specific learning needs.

What it involves

Some of the areas covered in the e-course include locating important information on the Covid-19 outbreak, recognising and applying patient safety policies, using communication and consultation skills to ensure person-centred care and applying techniques to ensure personal and team resilience.

Each topic area contains key resources from CPPE, as well as external resources from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) and the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee (PSNC) to bring pharmacy professionals up to speed.

Learners will have access to a tutor-supported discussion forum within each topic to enhance their learning experience, as well as daily support sessions via a video application for additional guidance and support.

Ongoing review

CPPE will continue to review and update the e-course to ensure pharmacy professionals have what they need to feel confident and capable in their return to pharmacy practice.

The Guide to returning to pharmacy practice e-course is now available on the Canvas platform, via the CPPE website.
